International Design Biennale Interieur Belgium – 25th Silver Edition

The Biennale Interieur is not just another design fair.

Unlike other fairs Interieur is a non-profit organisation and since its first exhibition in 1968, the organizers keep succeeding in their innovative way to represent good design and in promoting creativity in product development.

Since 1968 Interieur has been recognised internationally as the only event in its kind, combining the commercial presentation of the most recent innovations in the design industry with the significance of a cultural happening. The Biennale Interieur is the perfect place to discover innovative products, international trends, the avant-garde and movements that define today’s design. Visitors will behold a selection of the newest and most innovative furniture and accessories.

Interieur is taking place in Kortrijk, Belgium and will celebrate its 25th ‘silver’ Biennale from 14 to 23 October 2016.

This year, Vincent Van Duysen received the ‘Designer of the Year’ award.  Vincent is the eleventh designer in a row, awarded with this prize that is an initiative by the Biennale Interieur and the magazines Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend. The award is also supported by the Design Museum Gent, Centre d’innovation et de design au Grand-Hornu and Bozar.

“Vincent Van Duysen (°1962) may be best known as an architect, but his work as a designer is just as impressive. During the course of his career, he has developed his own style in his architectural projects as well as his product design, often described as minimalist. He prefers the term ‘art of living’ himself. Be it an industrial product, outdoor furniture, earthenware containers or a clever lighting system, he always succeeds in paring down the design into a refined product.” (Text Interieur Press Release September 2th 2016)

Vincent Van Duysen will display his work at Interieur this year and he will be feted during the opening ceremony on Friday October 14th.
