Traditional panelling is giving spaces an air of sophistication and elegance and is adding a sense of luxury to any room. The beauty of classic designed rooms comes from the light-and-shadow effects of the panelling mouldings. Panelling adds warmth and character to any space.

Panelling is hip as nowadays we notice that a lot of fashion and furniture brands (Chanel, Balmain, B&B Italia,…) love to use panelling as the ultimate and glamorous backdrop to give their products the unique and luxury look they deserve.

Paris’ most legendary Ritz hotel underwent a complete renovation that was finished last year, but maintained its strong identity and essence and refreshed but preserved all its panelled rooms. A lot of nowadays architects and interior designers are renovating homes with respect for the home’s characteristic elements as the existing panelling.

Last year Karl Lagerfeld, creative director of Chanel staged his runway show at the Ritz, using the hotel’s ground-floor salons as the perfect backdrop for Chanel’s pre-fall 2017 collection.

And fashion house Balmain commissioned the designers of their shops worldwide to create panelled rooms as luxury and glamourous backdrops for their fashion collections.

Whether your taste is traditional, modern or rather eclectic, intricating panelling creates an overall sense of warmth and gives a space plenty of character and life. It is even providing an architectural sensibility to a home with clean lines and minimalistic furniture. And don’t forget that hanging art over panelling gives a room a nice layered look.

Traditional panelling is chic and ‘hot’.
